Findus supports open and clear labelling on all products in accordance with current EU Regulations and Directives as well as with national regulations on GMO.

What does this mean?

Findus is aware that currently consumers are hesitant to use GM food. Therefore, Findus does not use any GM raw materials or ingredients and is carefully monitoring its total supply chain.

  • No, Findus does not use any GM components.
  • What does Findus do to ensure that its products do not contain GM ingredients?
  • Findus requires suppliers to send warranties where they ensure that the raw material is from a non-GM source. Findus also makes analyses on raw materials where it is possible on a random basis to confirm that the information given is correct.
  • How does Findus prevent contamination of GM raw materials?
  • All our suppliers are informed through the raw material specifications about our strict demand on non-GM sources.
  • How does Findus make the GM analyses?
  • The GM analyses are made according to established analytical methods using accredited laboratories.
  • Will Findus use GM ingredients in the future?
  • Findus follows developments within the area of GM technology and its impact on society and the environment. If in the future GM food is to offer a consumer benefit, for example nutritional value, taste or some other aspect that is justified from a consumer point of view and largely accepted by society, we do not exclude the possibility to consider that option.
  • Do Findus’ meat suppliers use GM materials in animal feed?
  • Findus main supply of meat is from countries where the cattle are grazing outdoors almost all year round. However, during some periods they are fed indoors with feed supplement. Our suppliers use non-GM feed but there is no guarantee that feed is 100% GM free.
  • Does Findus use GM fish?
  • No, we do not. Further, EU and national governments have not approved the use of GM fish.
  • You talk about GM ingredients but what about vitamins and minerals from HM source?
  • The vitamins and minerals in most of our products are found naturally in the raw materials chosen. The recipe is then developed to guarantee the nutritional value of the product.
  • Can food prepared from GM raw material pose any health risks?
  • Before a new raw material is approved EU legislation ensures that necessary investigations concerning health aspects have to be fulfilled and evaluated in order to ensure the consumer safety. No adverse effects have been observed from the use of GM raw material to date.
